I bought little magnetic dry erase boards to  keep track of what’s in the freezer, but didn’t implement the system. I think it was because I had a full freezer – couldn’t fit anything else in there – and wanted to log what I had to use.  Also, the freezer is downstairs, so it involved running down and digging into a deep freeze to figure out what I had.  It was overwhelming!  But if I were just to start keeping track of new freezer meals as I make them, like you’re suggesting, I bet that would work much better going forward!  Thank you!  (I aspire to be a spreadsheet nerd, but sometimes fail.  =(  Tips are much appreciated.)
