So, I’d love to have a thread of your tips and ideas for meal planning.

    For instance:

I keep cooked rice and beans in the fridge all week (tossing and refreshing every few days) cause they are easy additives to meals and I can cook them in my down time and have something to easily reheat when I’m too busy to even cook a freezer meal.

What do you do to make meal-planning easier?

I go thru my freezer daily and pull to the front the oldest items, or defrost and plan a meal.

That’s a good idea. I like to keep cooked shredded chicken and cooked ground beef in the freezer. That way I can add spaghetti sauce to the beef or throw the chicken in a casserole or heat up for wraps etc.

I like to keep a bag of frozen mixed vegetables that I get at Costco. I can add them to almost any dish and tint creases the volume, the veg content without a lot of fuss.
I also keep frozen chopped spinach from Trader Joes in my freezer. It’s easy to add to smoothies, my chili, lentils, etc. People don’t even realize they are eating spinach because it disappears in these dishes.

Cooked chicken in the freezer/ fridge is great for quick meals… wraps, enchiladas, quesadillas or chicken salad!  If I cook a whole chicken,  I’ll separate and put portions in the freezer to thaw as needed.

I like to keep cooked ground beef in the freezer. It’s so easy to make spaghetti sauce or chili. Also, I like to use rotisserie chicken from Sam’s – it’s very reasonably priced and easy to use for recipes with cooked chicken.

I keep lettuce and salad fixings around to eat as an appetizer prior to these meals. Amazingly, it controls my blood sugar.

When I make a large pot of chili I’ll freeze the leftovers in my food saver bags they are microwave safe but I also put the bags in a pot of boiling water to reheat. I do this with soups and other freezer meals too.

I like to dice carrots, celery and onions and freeze them for easy soup starter bags!

I need all the tips for how to find time to put the meals together.

I love the meals and how easy they are to pull and cook, but the prep time is a bit daunting.

Anyone have a tried and true method or system?

I’ve honestly loved the idea of freezer meals but been too nervous to start. Not sure what it is holding me back. I watch videos of the folks buying these hauls and putting like 30 meals together for later and I think it sounds great as an idea but I’m afraid to implement it. Any ideas or simple recipes to start with?

Hi Jessica: I haven’t had a need for such large meals either at this time of my life. But FreezerFit is still good. It’s so helpful to take these foods and just have the computer calculate for 2 meals instead of lots.. Then, I have one for the evening and one for another future dinner. The shopping list helps keep meal planning easy.

I like to always have flavored meats in the freezer for quick weekly meals, Air fryer or crockpot for the win.
