Rebecca WagnerParticipantI have a small household, three adults; my husband, mother-in-law and myself. The average FreezerFit recipe is too large for the three of us and no one but me likes leftovers, so I need help finding a method that will work for the three of us. I’ve used freezer meals in the past and found it very helpful especially on busy days, do I want this to work since I have so many projects to get done. Cooking dinner always gets in the way.

JenniferParticipantThe only thing I could think of is to just divide the recipe in half. Or just freeze the extra! I know what you mean. It’s just me and my husband most of the time so I usually divide the recipe or just freeze more.

ParticipantMy household is just my husband and myself, but I often make the vegan freezerfit meals just for myself. When I take the meal from the freezer, it cook the whole thing – then freeze half of that. It is helpful to only have to cook for my husband and pull out a freezerfit meals for myself.

DeeParticipantI’ll often make large recipes and freeze it in single or double portions for myself.

Rebecca WagnerParticipantThank you for your suggestion! I have a hard time dividing the full recipe up into smaller portions before it is cooked since the spices aren’t melded into the meat and other ingredients yet. I think I’ll try making a third of the family size recipe and bag it up that way. Just more work than I wanted it to be, but I can’t see another way to do it right now. Thank you again!

ParticipantI’ve batch cooked all my life whenever possible. Now that it’s down to me and one adult child who needed to come home, I just halve my recipes or split into two packs and freeze in smaller portions.

Julie FarahParticipantI do the same for my disabled son and daughter in law. I’m encouraging them to eat healthier. I split one recipe into two freezer bags with instructions and calorie count. It is working out great!

Denise DennisParticipantWhat do you freeze your meals in? I can’t afford the bags they use on this site and I’m not fond of plastics.

Julie FarahParticipantBecause I need to use disposable for my son and daughter in law I do use plastic freezer bags. I have the same concern using plastic, but I don’t have an alternate for them. I weigh this out by knowing they are at least eating healthier, by eliminating processed foods like Ramen etc.  For my husband and I , I use the reusable silicone bags. You can find them for less on Amazon. And I use glass containers for freezing leftovers.

Denise DennisParticipantThanks Julia! I hadn’t though about using my glass containers! I’ll also check out Amazon for the Silicon bags. I appreciate your response.
